An unconventional film deserves an unconventional online campaign, a site without comparison. In the case of Fox Searchlight’s new film «Martha Marcy May Marlene» Watson/DG wanted to build an experience that reflects the mystery, themes, and sinister undertones, housed within a unique web environment.

Visitors to the site are greeted with a portrait of the titular lead character, Martha, her two dimensional image superimposed onto fragmented pieces. This image takes the form of a moving, dynamic interface, one transforming with the user’s participation.

Inside the feature are engaging video clips and content that creates anticipation for the film – these are Martha’s experiences, her landscape of memories, those unsettling things that make her who she is. A strange man in overalls with a gun. Breaking out a car window. We get the sense that she is in danger, but what kind and from whom? Perhaps the person she is running from is herself.
