Happiness Factory

2

Inside every Coke Machine is the Happiness Factory, the magical world where happiness and flavor are bottled and chilled before being delivered to the outside.

"Coca-Cola asked for a site that encapsulated the

Happiness Factory mythos while exploring the physical

uplift found in every bottle of Coke: that burst of joy,

refreshment, and energy you get with every sip."

To accomplish these goals, Sapient created a site (hf3.coca-cola.com) that allows users to step into the shoes of the most common member of the Factory, the indispensable Worker. When they visit the site, users have the option to view Happiness Factory videos, or try their hand at a Worker’s tasks in Story Mode. If they’re in a hurry, they can also jump straight into their favorite level in Arcade Mode. Users new to the Happiness Factory story can catch up in the cinema section, where they can not only view old commercials, but also download them in a variety of formats. In story mode, users attempt to complete a variety of fantastical tasks. Each task is a separate level, and players advance through them in order, completing all the steps necessary to ensure that every bottle of Coke will come out perfect.
Players practice sliding on an luge in the Penguins Ice Labs. They balance on a spinning coin in the process of ensuring that the coin slot remains clear for cash. And help their Worker keep slobbery Kissy Puppies at bay by reattaching boards to fence.

The concept of physical uplift is communicated through the game’s energy meter, which slowly drains as player attempts to complete tasks. To keep their energy up, players must grab Coke bottles while they work. In an emergency, they can use one of their three emergency bottles, but once used, they are not replenished. If a Worker runs out of Coke, they grow tired and have to attempt the task again.

Completing a task in Story Mode allows players to advance to the next chore on the list. As users play, they unlock downloadable content in the form of wallpapers, ringtones, and more. There are also hidden items in each level that players can find to reveal additional rewards. Completing all the Worker’s tasks earns the player a promotion, which increases the difficulty of the games and gives them the chance to earn even more rewards. Happiness Factory launched in December of 2008, in over 8 markets and a dozen languages.
